With earlier careers in visual presentation for the tech industry, then as a practitioner of Japanese bodywork, Rachel Johnson now combines visual design with well-being in her work as an Ikebana Artist and Botanical Designer.
Rachel is trained in the Sogetsu style of Ikebana and has been teaching the subject professionally for 12 years. She studied floral design & horticulture at City College of San Francisco, and also holds a teaching credential from UC Berkley extension.
Her plant practice has deepened from being a gardener’s creative outlet, to an artistic discipline, to a livelihood. She has a diverse practice, which ranges from weekly and special commissions, seasonal installations, workshops and experiential community classes.
